Neighborhood

Location: We are located in the West End, just over a mile southwest of the Old Port in the historic neighborhood known for its elaborate Victorian-era architecture. Our neighborhood offers you the tranquility of the Western Promenade, an 18-acre park offering scenic views and walking paths, in tandem with a host of popular restaurants and cafes, all within easy walking distance. The neighboring Arts District and Old Port offer plenty to explore on foot, including museums, art galleries, theaters, restaurants, shops, and bars.

Good to know

This historic home was built in the early 1800s by one of the founders of the B&M Factory (the M stands for Morrill). Up until 2021, the B&M factory had been exclusively making B&M beans and their infamous smokestack was a staple in the Portland Skyline. What started as a single-family home, the Morrill Mansion saw many other uses before morphing into a bed and breakfast in the 1990s, and recently dropped the breakfast to serve Airbnb guests near and far. Architectural details that make the home unique have been restored and modern amenities have been added to make your stay in Portland comfortable. With just eight guest rooms, our inn offers a peaceful stay satisfying social guests or those seeking solace. Each private room, with a private ensuite bath, is furnished with a queen-sized bed, television (not your traditional cable, we have a smart TV with a YouTube TV account which offers live channels), a white noise machine, a reading chair (or couch depending on the room), and a mini-fridge. During the summer months (May through October) each room has a window AC unit and during the heating season, each room has its own Rinnai heater which allows you to control your own heat. Located on the first floor, the guest rooms share a sitting room and kitchenette which has a coffee/tea station, microwave, toaster, dishes, ice machine, and small eating/prep counter. An exposed/unlocked luggage nook is located at the base of the stairs for guests who need storage before and/or after check out. This room does not have an off-street parking spot. Because we neighbor Maine Medical Center, parking within a half-mile radius is hourly parking only from 9 am-5 pm Monday through Friday. If you arrive on a weekday at 4 pm or later, you can just park on a neighboring street and leave the car for the night until 10 am the next morning. If you arrive on a weekday at 3 pm or are staying for multiple days, we can provide you with street parking directions a half-mile walk away.

Other Details to Note

Room 1 is located on the 2nd floor. During winters, street parking bans may be called by the City during/after snow storms and guests may need to seek alternative parking. Host can provide recommendations by request but some may be at cost to the guest (parking garages, taxi service if nearby lots are full, etc.).

Awesome place to stay for visiting Portland. About a 20minute walk to various cool areas. It’s just a block off a main street so it’s quiet but super easy to get around. Charming little b&b room with heated floors in the bathroom! I highly recommend.
