Good to know

Built in 1895, this John Calvin Stevens home still has many original features unique to the famous architect. Commissioned by John T. Skolfield, the single family home was converted to an inn and opened for business in 2019. We are located in the West End, just over a mile southwest of the Old Port in the historic neighborhood known for its elaborate Victorian-era architecture. Our neighborhood offers you the tranquility of the Western Promenade, an 18-acre park offering scenic views and walking paths, in tandem with a host of popular restaurants and cafes, all within easy walking distance. The neighboring Arts District and Old Port offer plenty to explore on foot, including museums, art galleries, theaters, restaurants, shops, and bars. With just four guest rooms, our inn offers a peaceful stay, satisfying social guests or those seeking solace. Your private room is furnished with a queen sized bed, white noise machine, and a reading chair (or couch depending on the room). A Smart TV is provided should guests have their own streaming services. *no cable or streaming service is provided by the host* Off street parking is available, cannot support larger SUVs/trucks, and being competent in reverse is a plus! For those with large vehicles, street parking is readily available in front of the inn from 4pm-10am for overnight guests (outside these hours are hourly restrictions). A half mile away is residential street parking which is free and has no hourly restrictions for those staying longer than a night.

Other Details to Note

***WINTER PARKING: If we should have a snow storm, the day after the storm, we are required to remove all cars from the parking area so it can be properly cleaned out. From 9am through 3pm cars must be moved. Closest street parking with no time restrictions is about a half mile away so its a good time to explore the sites downtown or in our neighboring cities! The host will message through the Airbnb website/app the day of snow removal and any car left in the parking area will be charged a $100 fee***

Katrina's place could not have been more perfect. I think it is one of the nicest Airbnb's we have stayed in. The bedroom was spacious and lovely, the bathroom was nice and large, and we appreciated having coffee downstairs. The location was great; very easy to walk to lots of restaurants and museums as well as the waterfront. Would absolutely recommend!

Had a wonderful stay! We arrived super late in the evening but Katrina was very communicative in terms of our late check-in. The accommodations are great and the location is really charming. We definitely stay here agin on another visit.

This was a great place to stay in Portland! It was walkable to a lot of restaurants and great to have dedicated parking at the house. Although other people were staying there while we were, we never saw them or felt a lack of privacy at all. The shared kitchen space was great for coffee and using a microwave, but we liked having our own fridge in the room. I’d recommend Skolfield Inn to anyone looking for a place in Portland!

We had a wonderful stay at the Skolfield Inn in Portland. Everything was exactly as described. The Inn itself is beautifully landscaped and located in a nice, safe neighborhood that’s convenient to restaurants and local attractions. Our room was very clean, tastefully decorated, and the bed was extremely comfortable. It was the perfect place for a relaxing night, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Portland.

Outstanding small inn with comfortable and unique rooms, super clean, and a gorgeous bathroom. We were super comfortable and the pricepoint was half what hotels are charging. The West End has more and more restaurants, fun bars, coffee shops. A fun (and much cheaper) alternative to staying downtown. We will be staying again!
